"Nanc, I really do think so! I mean you even tutor many of us in singing or lead us in the choir. Also it would just fit perfectly."
Nancy squeezed Arielle's hand. "Yeah, I mean, I'll definitely go for it!", she agreed with a wink. She was a little uncertain if she had the time to do another main role this year. After all, who knew what would come after her appeareance on The Juliet Carroway Show? She was hoping for more gigs, maybe more TV-performances. On the other hand it would be perfect publicity for herself and for the play if the lead-role had been on TV already and such good practise for her. But who knew what the future was holding! "Mh?", Nancy was pulled out of her thoughty by Arielle. She bent a little towards her when she was whispering into her ear and followed her glance to Emery and Naya. She locked eyes with Naya for a moment, she seemed to be confused about something.
"Even though it seems some need to bare their claws again" Claws? What did Nancy miss? Her eyes went from Naya to Emery who was having a strange look on her face. "Huh, what? I didn't hear anything.", she whispered back and looked at Arielle, though listening to what they were saying now. Oh, dead girl walking. So they were talking about the play too. Well, no harm in trying, right? She just smiled at Arielle and shrugged before the girl hugged her. "You deserve the TV gig and Veronica." "Did you read my mind again?", she laughed after they broke the hug. She probably would be able to handle it all, because she had really a talent in organizing things.
"I'll try to keep that in mind, Nance. Congrats again!" "Thank you so much, hun!", she smiled brightly. Pidge was also such a cutie, wasn't she? She and Tara had such similar adorable personalities, now that she thought about it. Like sisters or something.
Then Arielle turned to Tara and Pidge and addressed them. "Tara, Pidge, we didn't even talk today did we? How are you? I was backstage warming up my voice most of the time. Sorry for not coming earlier to you!" She was always so kind to everyone, asking how they were and caring for them. Nancy was lucky to be her number one charge. Nancy smiled and looked at the two girls, waiting for their answers while leaning on the edge of the stage and swinging her legs.
Tara was the first to answer: "Hi Arielle. Well the day went better than I thought" Nancy giggled. "You mean because Miss Kishie is not here we're not doing anything?", she suggested and grinned at Tara. Actually, it was a total waste of time and Nancy hated wasting her time, but oh well. Her aunt would come back sooner or later and then they'd hopefully start into a new, successful season! It was so exciting, she would really practise everything to perfection and give her best to get a main role.
"Oh, hey, Arielle... I was busy....I... I may or may not have been napping up in the tech booth when y'all got here... Okay I was! It's just that I hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before." - "A nap? Pidge, you are the best, just the best! Some of us think about that and you just go for it, I have nothing but respect for you". Then she calmed herself down and looked worried at Pidge, " - "What? You've never accidentally taken a nap while working on something?"
Arielle started to laugh and Nancy joined her. "I wish I was THAT busy! No, but you could ask Zak about that, hahaha!" Good that he had left the room, otherwise he'd probably d´said something about him and Pidge should be taking a nap together backstage - nope, that wasn't needed now! "Oh dear, I hope it wasn't from exhaustion, though?", the raven-haired asked further. Arielle was also a bit worried and asked if Pidge was okay.
"Aw, shucks. You shouldn't have, Arielle. And I'm fine. Don't worry that much about me." "If you say so, okay! But don't you overwork yourself or something! Everyone needs breaks from time to time.", Nancy said quite motherly. She should better take her own advice, if she was honest.
"I went take some tea with Amanda and Esme. It was nice. What about you ?" "We should host a proper tea time afternoon with all the girls we are friends with! Tara, Pidge, you should definitely join us once we find a date!" "Oh my gosh, yes! Totally!", Nancy replied excited and clapped her hands together. "Let's also bring all our imaginary friends!", she added with a chuckle.
"Oh yes Arielle I really love the idea. It would be a really nice thing to do. I would definitly want to participate. When you have a date tell me. Maybe we can invite boys too ?" Boys? That could lead to some drama, but also be much fun. Nancy imagined Sig totally rocking the procedure of serving the tea. That would be a picture for the gods! "Yeah, I mean, I would be okay with that! ...As long it's not some douchebag." On the other hand, someone like Zak or Ryan wouldn't even come to something like this anyways. She wasn't even sure if Phillip would say yes to something like this. Ohhhh, Tristan might, though! She would just urge him to join. She nodded inwardly like to confirm her plan to herself.
"And you Nancy ? Oh and talkilng about that Nancy, will the choir do some extra courses to prepare for the auditions ? I think I will do some. I will audition as Veronica I think but I have not the best singing voice so I probably won't have it. But I will try my best anyway and any roles will be fine."
"Mh? Oh, a particular role, you say? Yeah, I mean, I'll definitely audition for Veronica - what a surprise. And yes, I can totally do that if everyone wants some extra lessons!" She tapped against her chin, thinking about what she could prepare for the chorus. "I'll think of some nice exercises and bring some songs from Heather's. OH REALLY? Tara, I had no idea you were so ambitious, I love it!", she said and winked at her. "If you want, I can practise with you for your audition?", she suggested. She would be genuiely happy for her if Tara got the Veronica-role. She was the sweetest girl ever and maybe a role like this would give her more self-confidence. Of course she wanted the role herself, but if it was Tara, she couldn't be mad! And even if she didn't get it, she could learn so much from only practising it!
“Hey! Knock it off! Both of you! We don’t need more fights today, especially not with Miss Kishi about ready to commit murder." Nancy jumped a little, when Peyton shoutet at someone. She bent to the left to see what was going on behind Tara who was standing in front of her. Urgh, it looked like Payton was marching into a fight from Nerissa and Al. Nancy wouldn't want to be involved with that for her life. Nerissa was being difficult at times, but Al was an even more difficult girl, and much faster to jump at someone's throat than Nerissa. Her weapon were definitely words, not fists. "Whoooops...", she mumbled and sent a meaningful look into her best friend's direction.
"Sorry girls, I need to talk to Chris. Hope I could talk to you again later" With those words, Tara ran over to her friend. "Uh, yeah, see you!",Nancy said to Tara's back and laughed a little. "Gone like a lightning" Nancy saw Alex coming back into the auditorium. He looked like always, good! She was relieved. Together with him came in Misha and that ... what was his name again....? She couldn't remember, but it seemed like the dog was belonging to him. Everything turned to good account. Pidge answered Misa's question about what have happened and left her and Arielle alone.

Whatcha gonna do?

Post by Misha Charisse Quinn on Jul 5, 2018 0:54:28 GMT
She tried to keep a neutral face as Naya eyed her suspiciously, apparently a little unsettled by her sudden presence at her side. As if she didn’t have any problems talking to the girl as it was, she had to go and make it weird. "Man, isn't that the understatement of the year."As she waited for her new companion to respond, Misha’s attention was drawn to her side as another girl approached them. She seemed to have just left the little group of people now surrounding her tutor, Nancy, and seemed about as done with everything as everyone else, though maybe less irritated. She was… hm… one of the tech crew working behind the scenes, right? Damn, being a newcomer was hard. Not to mention that this girl (?) wasn’t part of her school grade. She listened to her nevertheless, hungry for some input, and sighed heavily as she finished.
– Ugh… Honestly, does this even warrant so much anger? It’s just a club. I mean, maybe she shouldn’t have tried to start it here, but woman’s really making such a big deal out of it… Does she think everyone’s gonna bail on her or something?
I mean, I would if I could. She admitted to herself, cursing the punishment that kept her locked up in here even more than ever before. And with everything that’s happened… I bet I’m not the only one. Why was she even trying to make sense of miss Kishi’s fury, anyway? That woman would blow off for the silliest of reasons. Finally Naya was answering her and giving out so more needed info, and despite the situation, Misha smiled a little at the girl’s enthusiasm about their new animal friend. That girl was way too cute at times.
– Oh, you mean Copper. Yeah, he’s a cute fellow. His owner just came in to pick him up actually, so if you wanna say bye do it quickly – she gestured towards the happy reunion still going on, Andrei apparently having decided to never let go of his puppy again. Misha laughed softly at the sight. What a dork.
The rest of her story was slightly less cute, however, and Misha rolled her eyes at the situation. So it was a guy Nerissa and Al were fighting over… or well, not exactly. She couldn’t imagine either of them competing for a guy’s attention, and even less against each other. Probably something that happened because of him, then. By her experience, Zak was quite the troublemaker and knew how to have fun, and she respected that – but he didn’t seem to be as good of a sport as she was about it, which could usually lead to hurt feelings; not to mention his flirtatiousness. Yeah, she could see how that would cause problems. She only wondered WHAT he’d done this time.
– Well, if it’s any relief, I don’t think we’ll actually have a reunion at all today. – she answered both Naya and the smallest student, eyeing the situation between Kairi, Emery and the other girl at the corner of her eyes, silently wondering if it would cause a fight and if Alex would end up intervening and possibly getting punched again. She was pretty sure Kairi could kick his ass. – She’s taking so damn long and wasting so much time running around the hallways on her rampage… by the time she’s back, IF she’s back, we’ll probably have to call it quits and go home. It’s late enough as it is already.
She shook her head in annoyance, her long red copper hair moving along as she did so. If at the very least they could have actually DONE anything club-related, for as pointless as it might have been, this wouldn’t have been a COMPLETE waste of her time… well yes, yes it would have been, but she could stomach it, barely. Now all she did was count each coin of her paycheck she was losing for being here. Her eyes landed on Naya again as she did, taking advantage of a short moment where the girl wasn’t looking directly at her. The last time she’d seen her, girl had tears prickling her eyes, and yet she’d fled away, with her other bathroom companion following shortly after, leaving her all alone with her problems. It hadn’t been the best thing to do, but… she sure as hell couldn’t have handled more awkwardness at that moment.
– So… your makeup’s looking better. – she tried, as assertively as she could manage.

Well drama was going on in the drama club. And not the kind that involved putting on period piece costumes. Ede e could only imagine the pain it would be transcribing the bickering Al and Nerissa were doing into old English or badly translated English if their fight was in something else. Had Peyton not intervened, she would have been in the middle. But Esme has to admit, if she did get involved, she would be taking Al’s side. Latinas has to stick together. And Nerissa was letting club president get to her head.
Tara said they made good partners in regard to the dog, and she nodded with a smile. “Yeah, we did...”
But before she could talk more, Tara was swept up in other social affairs. She watched as she went after Chris. Well, she wasn’t getting involved with any other talks. She took a seat and began glaring at her homework. She might as well be productive. Esme scowled at her science worksheet,
“Ai. Just what I need. DNA probabilities.”

Copper, sit!

Post by Andrei Novosad on Jul 5, 2018 22:47:18 GMT
"...so if you wanna say bye do it quickly," the guy turned his head towards Misha, giving her a small nod and a shy smile. She was right, they needed to go. Whoever that Miss Kishi was - sounded like a pretty high-strung person. But first, he just had to pick some... stuff at the service room on his way outside. Hopefully, he didn't accidentally get rid of it while taking out the trash. He shouldn't have! Andrei shook his head and patted Copper, before standing back up. No, he couldn't be THIS high and start actually forgetting things from a dose so small, right?
The man put a collar back on the dog's neck and unclipped the leash. He trusted Copper, the pupper wouldn't leave him while he, his master, was around. It was time for farewells.
"Hey," he approached Al first. The guy shook his hand and patted his shoulder, saying: "Thank you once again, man. Both of you, for real!" Then he approached Misha, hugging her gently. He didn't know if the girl is up for hugs or not, but he felt that this time she didn't have a choice to pick. She deserved a hug! "I'm sorry that we have to leave you so soon," he said with a sigh of relief and looked down at Copper, "Right, buddy?" Andrei got back a loud bark of approval. The man let out a little laugh and looked around the room. He would love to thank each of the girls personally, but he wasn't the most approachable and talkative guy himself. So he just nodded, again with his small, shy smile and said: "See you soon, dudes."And with those words both Andrei and Copper have left the auditorium.

Post by Rebecca Rolfe on Jul 5, 2018 23:35:36 GMT
Rebecca came back a little late, due to having to use the restroom. her frame dusting off her skirt; since they were still in school she was still in the uniform.. which she was bothered by.. she noticed tensions and proceeded to sit by a student .As if she had not gone anywhere. She'd look around for who all came back on time, and felt bad, she was one of the last to return.Rebecca had tried to find the dog, but she could not, and when she got info Kishi was pissed- well.
She noticed the musical that had been chosen was "HEATHERS" She'd sign up for a part, which ever she got she'd be happy with. she wondered about her audition song now... she wondered. Rebecca was in deep thought now. her eyes scanned through the students faces about who could play what part.
Than they landed on Tara, Tara would make a good Heather M. she has the redish hair, some people portray her with.she chewed on a strand of hair; she seemed..very quiet today. plotting.. she noticed a few were still talking. those eyes of hers found another person. Nancy . she'd make a good role, regardless of what they put her in...she landed on Phillip.. oh , he was gorgeous .totally out of her league; and Tristans brother He would make a great Lead male role. ..she found Naveen, and she still had that child hood crush on her friend.
He would play a good mean boy , she thought. She found her cousins and blinked, confused at the topic.

Post by Emery Attiyah on Jul 6, 2018 2:27:13 GMT
Emery watched how Kairi seemed to study her when she took notice of her presence. She watched those black eyes of her gaze at her, studying her. As if she was trying to see something in her. It made her wanna cower, but like always she stood strong and kept her posture, knowing she needed to. If not for herself, for Peyton. Peyton knew of her crush on Kairi for a while now, but she also needed to know even with a crush she would stand up to her. Now, she knew for sure there was no way out of the question Kairi had asked Peyton, so she wasn't going to be able to move the subject. As much as Emery wished she could, she knew how persistent Kairi was. She would not back down without getting a proper answer.
Kairi took a glance at Peyton at one point, which seemed to make Peyton take more refuge behind her. Making emery take Peyton's hand and giving it a slight squeeze to tell her everything was fine. All while her own dark brown eyes did not leave the black ones gazing back at her.
"Very well, Tig-Emery. Where do you suggest we talk?"
Emery's eyes narrowed slightly at her being almost called something else. What was she about to call me? It felt like she knew the word she was calling her, but at the same time she didn't either. Confusing her.. I'll have to ask her what she was about to call me after this, She looked away to the spot her and Naya were before she came over here, knowing that was a good spot for discussing important things like this. But sadly, it was being occupied by Naya, Pidge, and Misha. Dammit, She looked for another area of the room that would be just as good as that spot. Her eyes landing to where Arielle and Nancy had been during their warm ups. That should be a good spot, She turned and pointed that way, "Over there, so our discussion is not heard and we can talk in private without raising our voices. Like I said before, this is not a conversation for everyone to hear. Not only that, I won't allow this discussion to be heard or discussed by anyone but the three of us. So let's go," She said, her eyes scanning the room for her brother. Once she saw him and they made eye contact, she gave him the usual look that told him to make sure nobody followed them to listen to their conversation. Something she always gave him when it was time to talk to someone alone.
Once that was done, she turned and lead both Peyton and Kairi to the spot, making sure one more time no one followed them. And when they were good she sighed. "Okay, now we can continue the conversation," She placed her hands on her hips, looking at the both of them now. "But first─Kairi," her eyes snapped to her, "I understand your concern, but next time you want to ask about her scar, please don't make it so open," She asked, her voice gentle but stern. "And, Peyton," Her eyes snapped to her now, "I know you don't like people to ask about it, so next time make sure you have it covered," She stated, giving them both a little lecture before they would discuss the subject at hand. "That is all, y'all can continue your conversation now but please do not raise your voice," She asked nicely.

Let's raise hell

Post by Peyton Cross on Jul 6, 2018 8:33:48 GMT
Peyton could smell it. The tension in the air. Though, the tension between her and Kairi was much different then the tension between Emery and Kairi. It was almost sexual, as Peyton could see Emery’s face turn a beat red, standing in front of Kairi like this. Emery wasn’t the bold person in the duo, that was Peyton herself. But Emery had her moments once in a while, moments Peyton often admired. She felt Emery grab her hand and squeezed, her way of saying that she had her back. Peyton straightened her spine to show confidence in herself. After what felt like a long moment of silence, Kairi finally spoke.
“Very well, Tig-Emery.”
Ohmygod she has a nickname???
“Where do you suggest we talk? Because you will talk, Peyton,” Kairi said coldly.
“You have such a way with words,” Peyton muttered.
Emery seemed to peered around the room to find a spot where they could talk privately. Finally, she pointed to an area unoccupied at the time being and dragged both Peyton and Kairi. Emery gave specific intel that the conversation was for their eyes and ears only. Emery was a lot of things, especially to Peyton, but the one thing Peyton always loved about her was her devotion and loyalty. She knew it tore Emery up inside not to report her mother to the police, but she did it on Peyton’s word and her word only. That’s the kind of friend she was, and it really did make Peyton smile from time to time.
They got out of sight from prying eyes, and Emery sighed in relief. She then put her hands on her hips and began to snap at both Kairi and Peyton, which almost looked amusing considering how short she was compared to the two of them.
“Kairi, I understand your concern, but next time you want to ask about her scar, please don’t make it so open,” she said in a stern voice. Emery then turned to Peyton. “And Peyton, I know you don’t like people to ask about it, so next time make sure you have it covered. That is all, y’all can continue your conversation now, but please do not raise your voice.”
Peyton had to contain herself, but she still couldn’t help but to snicker a little bit.
“Damn Songbird, where was I when you decided to grow a pair of balls?” she chuckled, as she decided to fix her poorly buttoned up shirt. She cleared her throat and looked at Kairi with a darkness in her eyes, as if talking about this made her become a whole new person. Like a Jekell and Hyde story, only in this case Hyde wasn’t a psycho murder, but a broken child.
“Alright, there’s no easy way to say this, but you asked for a clear answer,” Peyton snapped at Kairi. “My mother is an alcoholic. In her spare time she decides to take out our problems on me, and…well-" she showed off her chest scar for a split second, “-you see how far she can take it at times. And before you even bother saying it, I won’t call the police. My mother has something known as ‘white privilege’ and she could weasel her way out of any claims I make towards if she wanted to. And I have no doubt believing sending me to jail would be her perfect way in getting rid of me for good."

Post by Zak Gully on Jul 6, 2018 10:17:50 GMT
"Maybe I should get you snipped like one then." Zak burst out laughing. "Woah, woah, there." Definitely not my type. Still he couldn't deny her explosive personality was fun, especially when he could trigger it like this. But of course, the fun was only fun for a short time before the most annoying member of the drama club, and the least attractive one too, had to interject with her prissy know-it-all bullshit. "You're such a pruuuude," Zak said with a sigh and rolled not just his eyes, but his whole head. He doubted either of them heard him, though, over the sound of their rapidly escalating fight. Oh well, might still get some entertainment out of this. Watching Nerissa get her teeth kicked in would definitely be a high point of the day.
Unfortunately the fight seemed to be averted by a third party. Getting up and stretching, Zak checked his phone again. It was really late, was he seriously supposed to sit here forever in a group of people that he just kind of ehh liked? With the exception of Emery, who'd left the center of the room and seemed busy, and Ryan, who wasn't even here, and Amanda, who, again, wasn't even here... - why was he here?
He'd just about decided to bolt and leave school when he turned and saw Rebecca walk back into the room. Nice. Quickly, he put a hand to his hair, double-checking Emery's work before walking over and taking the seat next to her. "I hear we're doing Heathers," he said. A conversation opener. Even if he had no idea what it was he'd just said. Everyone but him seemed to have an opinion on the play, so might as well gauge out Rebecca's to get her to talk.

Post by Nerissa Clark on Jul 6, 2018 16:28:06 GMT
Nerissa rolled her eyes. "The difference between having a vasectomy and genital mutilation is that you can make a choice on the former and not so much the latter. And for some reason I don't think he would make that choice willingly." She lifted an eyebrow and from the corner of her eye she saw Zak was already slinking off, coward, she was here defending his honour and he could care less. In pointed out the difference hoping the Latina would recognise where her own comment fell on the two options.
As expected Alejandra wasn't taking it well that she had called out her parents on teaching her manners. Really now, she was commenting on one part of her parenting and she thought all of it was under question by her? And why on earth did she bring them up in the first place if she didn't tolerate them being talked about in such a way? Did she just think that she would cower away because it was appealing to emotion?
"I'm sorry, I think I must have misheard you. Did you just insinuate I grew up in the ghetto? Did you just assume that I'm from some 'seedy back alley'?" Nerissa took a frustrated inhale. "The only thing I am insinuating is you need self control and to learn some manners. The rest is just your assumptions." She said but the girl was still ranting on angrily at her. Nerissa sighed and listened in to the rant and as the angry girl was raging she kept taking steps towards her. Nerissa didn't move at all. Why should she? She had not said anything about where she thought Al lived or what sort of background she was from. Yes she had used an extreme example by mentioning the hood, but only because she thought that Al's anger and reaction fit a scenario like that. She herself knew fully well what it took to get into this school, so either Al really wanted to be here or there was money involved, those were basically the only two options. Either you were rich and your parents got you in or you had the will and determination to pass the scholarship exams.
"Because I follow orders of my authority figures. I don't take shit from my peers who try and belittle me. Guess which category you fall under?" The girl was staring right into her eyes, but Nerissa was not backing down either. "Orders?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "At best what I am saying to you can be called 'advice'. But you don't care about that do you? You just want to keep behaving like you always have. And when that doesn't work you resort to trying to make me feel ashamed by bringing up your parents which should make me stop criticising you because... I should feel something I guess. And then when that doesn't work you try to shame me some more by taking my vague comment and attaching your own insecurities to it." She wanted to add more but suddenly Peyton came to them and asked them to stop. Nerissa took a quick look about the room and noticed that their argument had put the whole room on edge. "Sorry...." She muttered to the people around them. Giving one more maybe a little concerned look towards Al. She just wished the girl knew that she didn't hate her or anything like that. If she didn't care she would not bother scolding her in the first place.
She moved over to her bag with the scripts. Deciding to check her phone for messages. "Got it, gal. Just a sec and I'll be there.- NS" Nerissa smiled a little, well at least her friend wouldn't be getting miss Kishi's wrath upon her. But she did feel bad for Amanda though.

Post by Kairi Matsumoto on Jul 6, 2018 18:52:21 GMT
"Over there, so our discussion is not heard and we can talk in private without raising our voices. Like I said before, this is not a conversation for everyone to hear. Not only that, I won't allow this discussion to be heard or discussed by anyone but the three of us. So let's go," Emery suggested after scanning the room for a non-busy spot.
Kairi followed behind the two girls, willing herself to get through this discussion without getting into more trouble.
Pssshhh, yeah right. The minute the bastard's name comes out, he's dead meat. Her hands twitched in anticipation at the justice she was all too inclined to carry out.
When the three finally came to a stop in the isolated part of the room, Emery gave the 'ok' to continue the conversation, but not without giving Kairi a surprising display of authority.
Dark-brown eyes snapped upward to her own colour-less ones, "Kairi, I understand your concern, but next time you want to ask about her scar, please don't make it so open," there was no mistaking the stern edge to her words - the kind of sternness that only glimmered in the presence of unwavering loyalty.
So, my little Tiger has claws.
Peyton chuckled, “Damn Songbird, where was I when you decided to grow a pair of balls?”
Kairi couldn't help but inwardly cringe at the overused misconception of strength. A man's testicles lived in a state of cruel irony, portraying an illusion of strength when in actuality, the infamous sex organ was their greatest weakness. Aside from being the strategic spot to bring a man to his knees in a fight, it was the essence to a man's downfall. The male ego was a fragile thing, built-up high and mighty but forever hollow.
Fake, that's what it was and Emery's strength was anything but. Kairi simply had too much respect for the tiny girl with white-tiger hair to ever feel her fire would die out - like many inflated egos did in response to Kairi and her gang.
Focus, Kairi. Obsess over Emery later.
God, one kiss and she was already at 'obsession' stage - a kiss the other seemingly had no recollection of nonetheless.
Kairi trained her eyes back on Peyton, noticing her uniform was properly adjusted now - the scar perfectly tucked away from reality.
There shouldn't have been a scar in the first place. Just a name, that's all I need.
Oh good, the rage was back, this was totally going to go smoothly.
But when Kairi finally met Peyton's eyes a flicker of relief entered the maelstrom of fury. She saw frustration in the abused girls eyes and Kairi wanted to hug the girl.
She's not broken. But there's no signs of hope either.
Kairi could see it clearly - the girl felt resigned to her reality.
“Alright, there’s no easy way to say this, but you asked for a clear answer,” Peyton began, “my mother is an alcoholic."
Kairi's heart faltered.
Mother?
"In her spare time she decides to take out our problems on me, and…well-" she motioned to her chest.
What?
“You see how far she can take it at times. And before you even bother saying it, I won’t call the police. My mother has something known as ‘white privilege’ and she could weasel her way out of any claims I make towards if she wanted to. And I have no doubt believing sending me to jail would be her perfect way in getting rid of me for good."
Not a boyfriend, no father, no stepfather, no brother, no crazy Ex...
A mother...
Kairi thought of her own mother, how loving she was even in her sickened state. She thought of Shiori, and how no matter what kind of impoverished life they lived, their mother would still shower them with gifts and affection. Peyton's scar slashed through these familiar memories.
A mother... her mother did that? What kind of woman does that to a child!? Their own child for fuck-sakes!
Her fists clenched tight, her chest pounding from the inside. Anger was there, simmering under the surface, but something else took hold of Kairi - something she hadn't felt in a while.
No matter the case the Red Lilacs took on, Kairi was never completely fazed or shocked, just fueled by a raging fire to seek her own kind of justice.
So with her hardened heart, why now - with this particular girl, in a room full of preppy drama students - did she feel a foreign wetness slide down her cheek?

"Oh, you mean Copper. Yeah, he’s a cute fellow. His owner just came in to pick him up actually, so if you wanna say bye do it quickly."
Naya giggled. Copper was SO cute! She would definitely try and get a quick hug in before he left. Just as the thought crossed her mind, the man who she presumed was Copper's owner came over, Copper trotting along happily next to him. As the man hugged Misha, Naya bent down to stroke the puppy.
"Hey buddy," she grinned, "I'll miss youuuuuu." And she really would. The puppy had been a wonderful distraction from the previous events with Ryan and Al, and his fur was so so soft and he was so happy Naya found it impossible not to smile as she pet him. Sadly for her, Copper and his owner soon left the auditorium, and Naya straightened back up.
" So… your makeup’s looking better," Misha said. Naya looked back at her, a little surprised but thankful for the compliment. Misha seemed nice really, and even though Naya sometimes worried that she didn't like her, well, she worried about that with pretty much everyone. Perhaps that was why she was so eager to please and be kind, but people seemed to appreciate her being sweet, and anyway it wasn't in her nature to be intentionally cruel. Naya smiled softly at Misha.
"Oh, thank you!" she felt her cheeks turning red, "I'm just glad there wasn't too much to fix. Imagine coming back in here with eyeliner all down my cheeks, I'd look a state!"
She allowed herself to look at Misha. She always seemed so strong and self assured, something Naya really admired about her. She was her opposite in a lot of ways. Naya often felt quite weak, as much as she didn't want to show it, and since her breakup... well, her emotions had gone a bit haywire and her confidence had been shaken. She wished that she could be a bit more Misha at times, that was for sure. But then again, she was in drama club, for goodness sake. This was the one place where she wasn't quiet, meek Naya. This was the place where she shone, where her talent spoke for itself, where she came alive. Even if drama club hadn't started yet that day, this was her happy place. So, she straightened her spine, took a breath, and looked at Misha properly.
"How are you feeling?"

"Damn Songbird, where was I when you decided to grow a pair of balls?"
At that comment, Emery couldn't help but blush and look away from her, a small pout forming on her face. Her arms crossed while she tried to calm herself from feeling embarrassed. She never really liked being called out when she was being serious and stern. That was because she never really thought about it until someone pointed it out. And it didn't help people were always shocked to see her get stern. She was always so bubbly and friendly, so it was a complete one eighty when she did become serious, angry, stern, and anything negative. Those people got more shocked when she lost her cool, for she had a very strong patience for bullshit. A blessing that was bestowed on her by having two older brothers. So crossing a line with her was very hard to do. So Peyton calling to it out of the sudden made her slightly embarrassed, but she would get over it fast.
And to make sure Peyton knew she was okay, she very sneakily gave her the bird with her finger. It was very quick, but she knew Peyton saw it. But did Kairi see it? She had no idea. If she did, she hoped she would find it funny.
Finally, Peyton spoke up, immediately getting to the point of her mother abusing her and why she wasn't going to go to the police about it. The story making Emery remember the night where she had told her for the first time. She looked at the scar on her forehead, her memory flashing through her mind at that moment. She saw Peyton crying, bleeding from the fresh new cut her mother had given her. Begging for her to help her. She remembered how useless she felt in that moment. How the only thing she was able to do was take pictures of her wounds. That way if Peyton ever felt ready to go to the police, she would have proof. Something Emery has done ever since, making sure to take picture of whatever wound would scar. Even though she knew the scars were worse, she needed to get all of the proof she needed. Just in case there was a day where Peyton was able to gain the courage and get justice for herself.
The flashback quickly ended with Emery shaking her head. Not really wanting to remember that night. She had never felt so useless that night, and if she had know how to stitch, Peyton wouldn't have such a thick scar on her forehead. If only she saw the signs before, if only she could do more than just let her sleep over a few more nights. Okay, Emery not right now, do not start feeling like this now. Peyton needs you to be strong,
Once Peyton was done, Emery looked to Kairi to see how she was taking this. And she was ready to hold her back when she saw tears falling from her eyes. Making her eyes widen and her hands go down to her side. She's.. crying, She was shocked to see Kairi look so shocked and upset. It seemed like she was expecting something else, as if the last thing she expected was to hear it was a mother that was responsible for the scars on Emery. It made her feel choked up a little, feeling tears form because she knew she was feeling what she felt everyday knowing that the one woman who should love Peyton the most, was hurting her. She sighed, trying to keep it together. Damn, why did she have to start crying?
"And before you tell me I should've told the police behind her back, I can't. I promised Peyton I wouldn't, and I make sure she comes over to my house as much as possible," She said, looking down and holding her right arm with her left hand. "I know that I should go behind her back, I should go tell the police. I should just say fuck the promise, I need to protect my friend. But what if she is right? What if her mother uses that 'white privilege' of hers, and Peyton is made to be the culprit. I couldn't bear making her life worse.. The most I can do is take pictures of everything that woman has done in hopes for whenever Peyton is ready to go to the police." Emery chimed in, looking back at Kairi with more fierceness in her eyes than ever.
"I won't allow the justice system to fuck her over like her mother fucks her over everyday. I can't let it happen. Yes, they may not do any of this, but I'm not taking that fifty, fifty chance. I won't," Tears ran down her cheeks as she confessed this. Her nails digging into her skin. Please don't think less of me, Kairi. Don't think less of us..

Peyton didn’t really know what to think or expect. It’s not like she tells this story often, but she knows everyone has a different reaction to stories of abuse. And abusive parenting through the mother she knew was…uncommon to say the least. What she certainly didn’t see coming though was Kairi’s sudden burst into tears. While she wasn’t full on sobbing, the water droplets flowing from her eyes and strolling down her cheeks was hard to miss. Peyton was caught off guard. She didn’t think Kairi would react so emotionally, especially since apart of her felt someone like Kairi couldn’t show physical emotion. Peyton wasn’t really good at being emotionally supportive, it was never one of her strong suites. That was Emery’s job. So, she felt at a lost for words and of wisdom. What do you even say to this? It’s not even like Kairi and Peyton ever talked. A passing “hello” was the farthest it ever got, but nothing like what Emery and Peyton have. Not that kind of close friendship and undying loyalty.
She got pulled back from her daze as Emery started to speak, telling Kairi the whole reason why she never called the police, something she so desperately wanted to do so often.
"I know that I should go behind her back, I should go tell the police. I should just say fuck the promise, I need to protect my friend. But what if she is right? What if her mother uses that 'white privilege' of hers, and Peyton is made to be the culprit. I couldn't bear making her life worse.. The most I can do is take pictures of everything that woman has done in hopes for whenever Peyton is ready to go to the police.”
Emery always did believe Peyton would be ready one day. Peyton on the other hand never gave it second thought. She lost hope in believing that would ever happen. The police taking her mother away for life in prison. It was a distant dream, like another reality or timeline. One where she didn’t look like her, and her mother was of the male gender. Then maybe it could be true. But reports against people who looked like her and women like her mother says otherwise. No one believes the black girl, even if she speaks the truth, and everyone one believes the white woman, even if she’s full of lies.
"I won't allow the justice system to fuck her over like her mother fucks her over everyday. I can't let it happen. Yes, they may not do any of this, but I'm not taking that fifty, fifty chance. I won't,” Emery finished. Peyton saw in the corner of her eye that Emery also started to shed tears.
Peyton smirked. “Hey, don’t you start getting sappy on me, Songbird.” Her smile faded as she looked back over to Kairi. “I’m sorry if this made you upset hun, and you look like the person who could kick Evelyn Cross’s ass. But don’t. Please. Evelyn-,” she bit her tongue. The disconnect was getting so bad she couldn’t even call her “mom” anymore, “-my mom is not your problem. She’s mine. And I’ll handle her in my own way. Even if that means keeping Emery, you, and the authorities out of it."

Arielle and Nancy talked some more, until Nancy spotted Misha, talking to Naya.
(OCC: I don’t know if arielle will come with her aaaaand i‘ll formate the text tomorrow haha)
„Oooooh, Ari, I gotta talk to Misha for a moment. You wanna come with me?“, she asked and jumped down from the stage to walk over to Misha and Naya.
„Heeey, you two!“, she said with a sweet smile towards Naya and then Misha. „I hope I don’t interrupt anything?“ After a little pause, she continued: „Misha, do you think we could change the time of our next tutoring? I really can’t make it at 4. Would 6 be okay or maybe on another day? I‘m incredibly sorry, I usually don’t don’t do this but I don’t have another choice this time, something urgent came up.“ She gritted her teeth, she really felt bad about changing it. She wanted to be anything but unreliable.

Esmeralda just decided to give up on her homework. Well, she might as well start talking to people. It was kind of hard really doing that when people were socializing to begin with. Kind of rude to just walk in on a conversation. Peyton was with Kairi going through something heavy, and Esme didn't want to be 'that' person who came in and said something insensitive. She, she raned over to look over. She kind of liked Naya, the girl was good company when you got to know her. She was chatting with Misha, a redhead that Esme didn't really know. They were being joined by.
Oh. Nancy.
Esme didn't hate Nancy per se, but something about her rubbed her the wrong way. But maybe like Tara, she'd find that little light of something genuine. Casually, she joined them, asking levelly,
"What came up that made you change your mind? Hopefully nothing serious."
