Fight hard and hope you don't break

"Is it just me, or is Miss Kishi really late?" Emery asked from her position next to Al, causing him to glance up at the clock. He had been too wrapped up in his back-and-forth teasing session inside their friend circle to notice the time. It was a whole half an hour past when class was supposed to have started. And just like his sister said, there was still no Miss Kishi to be found.
"Not that I mind," Al said with a chuckle as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Less time I have to spend avoiding her deadly glares. Think I've gotten more lectures from her than any other teacher." He shrugged a little as he turned his attention back towards the group, an amused smirk playing on his lips. In truth, he didn't really mind so much; not to say that he liked being there in the drama club. After all, he was only there as a consequence for having to repeat his senior year... among other things. But he was pretty used to being yelled at in the four years he had been attending Maverick High.
However, it was only the beginning of his fifth year and already the amount of lectures he'd received had become way too frequent with their drama instructor lately - who, according to his sister, was also a lot crabbier than usual. And it didn't exactly help having a free spirit like himself who didn't mind causing trouble suddenly get dropped inside her department by the Principal's suggestion. Even without knowing the teacher as well as the veterans of the club, it was still very apparent that Miss Veronica Kishi liked her drama department ran the way she wanted it. And while originally his 'sentence' of joining her club was meant to be his punishment, it seemed to be more of a hell for Miss Kishi than anyone else.
Continuing to talk to the group around him, Al was cut off as he suddenly heard the auditorium doors swing open behind him. Pausing for moment to look at who had just entered while half expecting it to be their missing instructor, he was instead met with the sight of Amanda standing inside the doorway with a package in her hands. She looked just about as lost as everyone else did by their teacher's disappearance, though the raven-haired didn't give much notice to it as he turned back towards the group to carry on their fun and conversation.
"Sooooo," he began as a slightly mischievous look crossed his face, his eyebrow raised expectantly. "Does this mean we get to skip class? Cause I have about a thousand and one places I'd rather be than stuck in this he- Hey!"
His words had been suddenly cut off as a force knocked into him, sending him stumbling forward. Al let out a quick yell of surprise as his balance was thrown off due to the unexpected impact, causing his body to bump into Emery's. Quickly taking a step forward to catch himself, the two siblings eventually caught themselves and regained their balance. Though it seemed the culprit, Amanda, hadn't been so lucky.
"Damn, Amanda," he said in a teasing voice as he ran his hands through his hair, letting out a low whistle as he took in the sight of cards, board games, and playing pieces scattered in a mess all over the floor with Amanda scrambling and stuttering in the midst of them. "If you wanted to play a game, all you had to do was ask." He gave her a playful smile as he bent down to help pick up all the various games along with a few others that had rushed to help, reading the titles as he went. There were quite a few different choices, from classic party games to lesser-known titles to simple cards...
Stacking them up in a pile as others gave their suggestions for games they wanted to play, he turned to look over at Amanda in between comments, raising an eyebrow inquisitively. "You sure you're okay though?" he asked in a more concerned tone. "That was quite the hit. You sure you aren't secretly playing defense for the football team?"
Soon enough, Nerissa had joined the commotion, looking a lot less than pleased as he watched her eyes take in all the games. "You brought games to the drama club?" she asked, her arms crossed over her chest. Amanda looked lost for a moment, before stuttering out a reply about wanting others to join a new club. Her new club. But before much else could be said, others had joined in the ruckus and it was all Al could do than roll his eyes and back up towards a clearer area of the room. Looking around, he eventually spotted Misha and approached her, giving a dramatic wave of his arms as he spoke.
"Just another day in drama class!" he exclaimed before settling in next to her on a nearby chair, propping his legs up against another in front of him. "I would suggest we go ditch, but I feel like drama is about to unfold and I have the best seat in the audience right now." He gestured towards the chair he was sitting in and turned to face the ensemble of people, their voices echoing inside the auditorium. With the amount of people here and no instructor to supervise, things were bound to get crazy. Probably sooner rather than later considering this was the drama club of all things. And as he glanced over at Misha, he couldn't help but grin. "I dare you," he started in a hushed and mischievous tone, gesturing towards where Ryan stood next to Tristan near the background panels, "to grab that paintbrush and paint Ryan's face with it."

Which Al?
|
Post by Alejandra Ramirez on Jun 25, 2018 17:27:31 GMT
Al was bored out of her mind. It was the first club meeting of the year, now that things were settling down from school starting up again, and Miss Kishi was meant to tell them what the fall production would be. However, it had been a half hour since club was supposed to start and the no-nonsense 'don't you dare be late' teacher had yet to show up. What's up with that? she wondered, listening as other kids voice out how strange it was that Miss Kishi was late.
Really was there any point in sticking around? The teacher was being a no show and as a member of Stage Crew, Al didn't have anything else to do. Other than socialize with her friends. Which was certainly a favorable action. Especially with Emery and other Al teasing each other and being total dorks. The sight caused her to smirk, happy to watch them and even egg them on.It kind of reminded her of when her brothers came home to visit.
Then suddenly, the sound of auditorium doors opened. The sound echoed all the way towards the backstage area where they were all gathered. Al raised an eyebrow, turning her head to see if it was their club advisory teacher finally making an entrance. About time. she thought, waiting to see the elegant, but admittedly loosing her shit since the divorce, teacher come storming through.
It was not her.
Chocolate eyes blinked as she spotted Amanda, a club member Al could admit to not knowing a whole lot about, rushing in with arms full of things and making a collision course towards other Al. She opened her mouth to say something, warn her male counterpart, but she wasn't fast enough. The Latina winced as she watched the two knock into each other. That's gotta hurt. she thought before blinking as she heard Ryan yell out.
" Hey Amanda ! Walk much?! "
Al turned to glare in his direction, lifting up her middle finger. "Be a jackass somewhere else!" she yelled back at him before turning around to help out. Only to see a bunch of people had already rushed in to help gather the spilled items. Which were apparently... "Board games?" she said allowed, confused at the sight. Other Al seemed rather amused by the sight, making a comment that was just as jackassery as Ryan's was. Rolling her eyes, she nudged him with her elbow. "Don't be an ass." she stated, before looking at all the games, still confused as to why Amanda brought them.
However an answer was soon given as Amanda nervously said she wanted to make a new club and was wanting to ask people to join. "So a board game club?" she asked, before turning towards Nerissa who was being a snobby-know-it-all. "She's allowed to see if anyone's interested in joining before going to the school." Al said, rolling her eyes. "You need at least four or five people to be an official club and she's gotta show them some way that people would want to actually join." Really there was no reason to get on Amanda's case about it.

Emery took a bit of notice how it seemed everyone crowding Amanda made her a bit more nervous. She looked at Peyton when she talked about Cards Against Humanity in a bit of a sarcastic tone. "Yup, that's the one," Emery laughed before she helped Amanda with putting some more things away before she stood back on up her feet and dusted her knees off. Naya spoke about who didn't like UNO, making her smile more. She listened to how Amanda wanted to start a new club, causing a gleam in Emery's eyes to appear with excitement. And she was about to speak when Nerissa chimed in. Seeming against the whole idea before telling her she was going to get in trouble if Miss. Kishi saw them.
Emery frowned knowing too well how right Nerissa was. But she wondered if right now was the time to be scolding the poor girl. She was already upset enough from what it looked like. But what really made her frown was when she heard someone from behind teasing her.
"Hey Amanda ! Walk much?!"
Emery turned around to see who said that, but she knew very well who said it. It was Ryan. Ryan was a friend of Emery's, an odd friendship indeed. Which started when she caught him after baseball practice one day. They had decided to get coffee and that was when she had caught who he really was behind the whole facade of being a massive jerk. But their friendship didn't really kick off until after Nancy's sixteen party. Ryan had came to her in a drunken, crying mess, letting her know his secret. How he was gay. And the way he confessed it, the way he let his walls completely down during it was what made her realize how bad he needed a friend to support him and be there for him. Which is what she had been ever since. His comfort and the one person so far that he could vent to without any fear of judging or name calling. But he only acted that way when they were alone..
When they weren't alone he was back to being a jerk to hide it all. Thus making her eyes narrow as she sent a sharp glare to him. A glare that told him he knew better than to pick on Amanda. Normally she would've hit him upside the head, but she didn't want to cause a scene right now. It was the last thing all of them needed. So she just gave him the glare before taking out her phone to shoot him a text.
─── "That wasn't cool, you know better." ───
After that she turned back to Alex when he spoke about another day in drama class, making her laugh while he sat next to Misha. Normally she would've joined but it seemed like they were going to start their whole daring schemes again. So it meant it was time to watch and eat pretend popcorn to see how much trouble they would get into. She turned back to make sure Amanda was okay. It seemed like she was and she had a lot of people asking about the club, so it was time to give her some space.
With that she walked on over next to Misha and Al and decided to watch their shenanigans as she played on her phone just a little bit. Not really wanting to get too into just incase Miss. Kishi would walk in at any second.

Mean while everyone talking, far in the corner of the auditorium is Riley all alone not paying any mind to the others having a good time, she didn't mind being alone oh no she didn't mind at all.
She was to busy sketching new ideas for a cosplay she been wanting to cosplay as for awhile for a con that's coming in a few months and she wanted a head start on the project, and didnt wanna be bothered by anyone even though her father was hoping she could make friends so she wouldn't feel alone, yet she focused more on her school work and cosplay making.
Soon after she saw Amanda run in and looked concerned as she adjusted her glasses but then went right back to sketching her cosplay as a genie, she was very pleased with how it turned out, and was happy that Amanda came in cause she can ask her for help but she didnt want the others to know since she barely knows any of them except Emse and Amanda she was a bit to shy to say hello since she can tell that everyone was already having a good time, and decided go stay where she was til class started.

Naya turned away and rolled her eyes at Nerissa's response. Couldn't she just lighten up a little? Sure, Naya loved drama club as much as the rest of them (her countless musical theatre audition playlists, curated by vocal and song type was evidence of that), but even she could appreciate a little off-topic fun now and then, especially if Miss Kishi was nowhere to be seen. Handing the last playing card to Amanda, she straightened up.
"For what it's worth, I'd love to join a board game club if you were to make one," she grinned reassuringly at her, hoping to make her smile a little, before following Al and Emery as they went over to Misha. She didn't really want to get involved in more drama, better just to watch from the sidelines and hope Miss Kishi turned up soon to sort things out.
"Just another day in drama class," she heard Al say, and let out a small giggle, grabbing a chair and sitting with her friends.
"You can say that again," she laughed, before turning to Emery, who was on her phone.
"Would you join the board game club if I did?" she asked, then without waiting for a reply, "I mean, I doubt it'll happen if Nerissa gets her way, but it might be a nice de-stress after these rehearsals. Unless we're playing Monopoly, then I'm playing to win," she babbled on, as she often had the tendency to do.

For him, waiting is nice, especially if he can paint a false tree or a house. He so much likes to paint ... It changes his ideas. And staying here gives him an excuse to not socialize with others ... Miss Kishi is really late ... He doesn't complain, it gives him an excuse to not go home ... He tries to keep his attention on his work .. And especially don't look at the person right next to him: Ryan. He can't look at him without blushing ... And it's even more embarrassing when someone finally notices it ... So he just stays focused on his brush, and this beautiful painting he has to do with a lot of attention. But he finally turns his head and his eyes catch the eyes of Ryan. He can feel his cheeks blush even more ... Great, really great! Should he say something ?! Or just look down? What is he suppose to do? If he had to speak ... WHAT COULD HE TELL HIM?! He'll just say something stupid and embarrass himself ...
He hears a loud noise, and turns his head. He sees Amanda making a mess. He worries that she may be hurt, but some people join her. She seems to be fine, he sighs with relief. "Hey Amanda, walk much ?!" He turns his attention back to Ryan. He smiles softly. The blond is really bad to joke, but it makes him cute. "Stop it, she could be hurt." he murmurs. He can't help but laugh a bit at Ryan's expression, proud of his terrible joke. But then everybody seems to be mad at Ryan ... He started to feel bad for him ... "It ...it was just a silly joke ... you know" He try to said, defending the blond... but maybe too low for being heard by the others ... He look briefly at Ryan before he turn his attention back to the painting, feeling now uncomfortable.

"Too many people around me. Too many..." she thought, as her heart raced like crazy.
Amanda loves to observe people from afar. Imagine who likes who more, who would make a cute couple and who would definitely be besties. It was always for her like a game, a movie and now she was standing in the middle of an action scene herself. People were talking, arguing, laughing. So many things happened at the same time! This was not right! Stupid mom, if only she could not listen to her.
The girl heard Esme's false but still kind and protective tone. "I would definitely like HER to be my mom instead of the one I have," she thought and gave the girl a "thank you" smile and a nod. But right after that people started asking her about the club. Of course.
"I love board games and it's an eternity since I played one," she gave Tara a warm smile back as well. "That would be beautiful," she thought, imagining how they could spend all the time together without the stupid miss Kishi, but the girl didn't say anything out loud to not embarace herself even more.
"...If miss Kishi sees you with them you are going to get in trouble," a-aand Narissa ruined the mood, bringing her mind back to earth. Yes, Miss Kishi would be VERY angry.
Before she could agree to hide the games Al said, "She's allowed to see if anyone's interested in joining before going to the school."
Dammit. Al! What do I do now...
Amanda smacked her lips, thinking. Think, Amanda. Think, think, think. Then she took her notebook and a pencil from her backpack. She needed to stick to the role. Time to shine! She would probably never have an opportunity to act again like this!
"Yes! And I will do that!" she said with a bit too daring smile and turned away from Narissa to face everybody else. "So, who wants to join the Gaming Club? Ready to write down your names!"
"For what it's worth, I'd love to join a board game club if you were to make one," Naya said, giving Amanda a boost of confidence that she wasn't left unheard! "Awesome!" she replied and wrote down 'Naya' with a little heart right beside her name. On the top of the list, she wrote in all caps "THE GAMING CLUB".

Esme blinked rapidly. Where d this air of confidence come from? Was it just a means to tease Nerissa for making her out away the games? But hey, she might as well go with the flow. This time, Esme had dropped her facade entirely. She was genuinely grinning from ear to ear. Aside from Miss Kishi, she was always up for going against the regular coil. Amanda had started a list for a Gaming Club.
Unless we're playing Monopoly, then I'm playing to win," Naya had said.
"Pass on Monopoly. I'll rage quit so fast we'll lose several properties. Oh, and the metal iron."
As she was saying this, Esmeralda was adding her name to the list.

Let's raise hell

Post by Peyton Cross on Jun 25, 2018 18:25:22 GMT
Peyton could tell how overwhelming this all was for Amanda. While Peyton wasn’t necessarily social, she was observant, and she knew that Amanda wasn’t a very talkative person herself. Hell, she never really sees Amanda hang around with anyone. Peyton felt bad for the quirky redhead, but maybe this gaming club was her way to change all of that.
Peyton sat next to Emery who continued to doodle one her phone. She kept overhearing various conversations between the other students as they all crowded in a big circle, practically swarming Amanda like a bee hive. Peyton smiled in amusement at the whole situation. She looked at the clock again, and began to wonder about Ms. Kishi’s whereabouts. She knows the instructor has been difficult as of late, but she was never this tardy before. Peyton shook her head trying to not think about it. She didn’t need her imagination to start flowing about Ms. Kishi, and thinking she was at some bar getting drunk like her mother.
Peyton shifted closer to Emery and figured she would talk to her to get the image out of her head. “So…you gonna join the new club?"

Man I didn't know eyes could roll so far up.An exasperated sigh left his lips as he was scolded for the comment on Amanda's trip. Wait...trip.. shit! He could have used that. Maybe something along the lines Have a nice t r i p , did you have a good f a l l What a missed opportunity. honestly. -- He waved his hand at the various gestures and comments piercing through. Way used to everyone biting back at his sneers or comments. He really only cared for about three people or so, and even then hardly. " It...was just a silly joke...you know..." Eyes widened as Tristan spoke, surprised honestly that'd he'd even attempt to stand up for him. What a good egg. Ryan smiled as he gently grabbed the boy's hand, pulling the brush out from his grasp. He moved their hands behind the set piece, interlacing their fingers together. His thumb brushing against the top of his hand. In almost a thank you for his retaliation. --Ryan's free hand took out his vibrating phone from his back pocket, turning the screen on and seeing the flashing notification of Emery's text.' that wasn't cool you know better. 'Oh please. The girl can't take a joke? He retaliated the text by sending multiple eggplant and peach emojis before pushing his phone back into his pocket. He knows damn well everyone's going to be on his ass if he doesn't somewhat apologizes to Amanda. He releases Tristan's hand, not before looking back at him and flashing him a small smile while getting up towards the small group of people hovering over the game wielding broad. ' Alright alright, move aside. Let the real game master in on this. " Signing up for her stupid new club would be a fitting apology right? Besides , another extra curricular activity couldn't hurt his GPA.

"So, who wants to join the Gaming Club? Ready to write down your names!" Amanda seemed to have gain some sort of conficence. it was really pleasant to see. And she dared to do her club, des pite Nerissa's reprimand. She really was admirative.
After that Esme finished to write her name on the list, she asked her for the pen and write her name on the paper.
"Can't wait for this club to begin, this will be so fun" She said excitedly to Esme, to the next person wanting to write their name, to Amanda, to everyone in the auditorium. She really was excited for this, genuinely, "You really had the best idea Amanda"

Post by Christopher Kresh on Jun 25, 2018 18:40:25 GMT
Chris had actually been in the auditorium 5 minutes prior. He didn't want to be late and maybe get in trouble with miss Kishi. He had seen her scold some people in public during rehearsals and he did NOT want to be among those people. Not at all. He didn't feel anything for being in the spotlights.
People had been dripping in and started to do their thing while waiting for Miss kishi to come. Chris decided to check out backstage to see if everything was still in place and nobody had made a mess yet. If there was one place that had to stay organized it was backstage. When he got there however he noticed narissa was actually checking everything and making sure everything was organized. Not wanting to get in her way and possibly irritate the girl he decided to leave her be.
He sneaked outside the backstage area and got to the wall to just watch and wait from a distance.
Chris looked up hearing amanda run in. Damn. She looked panicked. He saw a girl close to the door with some kind of sketchbook. He could only hope the girl didn't ruin whatever she was drawing out of fright for the sudden entrance. Following amanda with his eyes he saw the drama unfold.
He was glad people were actually helping Amanda up and such. It was nice to see people were kind enough. However people seemed to ignore the girl in the back. He sighed as he tried to man up a little as he made his way over to the girl in the back. Riley. He had heard her name around the club and remembered it, even if she didn't speak much.
“ H-Hey there..” he said as he walked up to her announcing he was there since he didn't want her to jump up or get scared by him suddenly being there. “ Are you alright too..? I mean.. I saw you were drawing and uh.. i-it would be a shame if a sudden scare would ruin the drawing” he explained as he rubbed the back of his neck with a shy-ish smile. He just hoped the girl wouldn't be freaked out or something since he meant well.
He could hear the others in the background. A game club. He looked back at riley. “ are you.. going to join?”

Elizabeth looks dover at Ryan saying his flavourless line which made her roll her eyes. Real peachy. She rolled her eyes, saying “Don’t listen to his terrible liners.” Not the Miss. Kishi being late wasn’t already annoying, it was hypocritical really. Nagging about them being late when she couldn’t come early to start the class. Excpect nothing but hypocrisy. Is what she got outa the whole thing.
Their was even some mention about a gaming club. She could’ve joined two. Not to mention it beat Miss. Kishi leaching the last ounce of tun in the entire room and therefor. Class. Yet, she just stayed. Just so she could have the old Miss. Kishi back and enjoy acting the way she used to.
Looked across the room, noticing Riley. That’s her name.... Right. She thought, her head just wondering about as she walked up to Riley. Smiling warmly as she sat at her level, saying in a cheery manner, “Hey,” she waved. “How are you?” She said, fixing her collar.

Emery was still playing with her phone when Ryan texted her back. "heh, nothing but eggplants and peaches, typical.." At his text she rolled her eyes before sending one back with a smirk on her face.
─── "Not today, bub." ───
With that she turned off her phone when Naya and Peyton made their way over her, asking her if she would join the club. She looked at them before looking at the ceiling, giving it a thought or two before frowning just a little. "As much as I would like to, adding another club to my activities wouldn't be best for me. since you both know how I'm trying my best to keep my grades up this year instead of falling. So far I'm doing well in that department, so I don't really wanna ruin it now. Even though it sounds fun as hell, I'm going to have to pass for now," She said, looking a bit upset she had to say no, especially since Amanda looked so happy to be receiving people for it.
"Plus, I can already hear my parents and Al scolding me about putting too much on my plate. Maybe next year? We just have to see. Other than that you two can come over tonight and we can play some board games to make up for it! It's time for another sleepover anyway. I've been bored the last few nights," She said, her smile coming back to her face, hoping the two of them would like it. "And we haven't watch Wicked, Heathers, Cats, or Les Mis in a while! So it's due for both!" Emery laughed, her eyes brightening up at the idea of watching those shows with her friends again.
But she wasn't just asking for her sake, she was asking for Peyton's sake too. As she knew what happened everytime Peyton went home. She knew what her marks and scars were really from. And considering it looked like she had a new one on her hand, it was time that she came and sleepover for a few days.
God she hated that Peyton got abused everytime she went home, but after countless of times of being asked to not go to police about it, she kept to herself. But even she wondered how long she could actually keep that promise up.. How long until it got to the point where all she could do was call for the police. It worried her..

Riley looked up at Chris for a second as she adjusting her glasses to her a better view to see who is talking. "No worries, your fine, I'll probably join the others as soon I finish this sketch of a costume I'm working on."
She blushed feeling little embarrassed since she never told anyone she that she makes costumes or cosplays before but it seems she felt comfortable around him.
"Your Christopher right? I'm Riley Owen, I'm not that good at making friends." She faceplamed with her book feeling more embarrassing,as she talked to her self ["why did I just say that?!]" As her face gets more flustered as she trying to think of a way to change the subject. "S-so are you ganna join the group that they are talking about...?"
