Name:
Peyton Cross
Birthday:
December 13th; Age-18
Status:
4th year (Backstage Operator)
Class Year:
Senior
Personality:
To an outside perspective, Peyton can be seen as quiet. She often keeps to herself and can scoff at “typical teenage behavior”. She’s much more mature than most people her, acting more like an older woman than a free spirit teenager. Getting to know Peyton, her serious tone can diminish to a light-hearted persona. She is confident on her opinions and outlooks on a situation and is not afraid to speak her mind. Peyton will never have any regrets in speaking out against something, even if other people could find it offensive. She’s not very easily excitable, very few things in life make her giddy. In terms of social events, she often avoids them due to there being so many people, but she does spend a lot of time outside or in public. She never stays home for more than a few hours. Her attitude is usually very witty and sarcastic. For a majority of the time, she appears calm and collected, but if people get to her breaking point she gets overly emotional. This results to lots of yelling and crying. Still, it would take a lot to get her there, as she is overall strong and well-composed. She has a fragile psyche but isn’t easily broken.
Looks:
• Height: 5'8" (172 cm)
• Hair Color: Black
• Eye Color: Blue
EXTRA: Scar across her chest near her collar bone, usually covered by her shirt/school uniform; Hair is in a pixie cut
Backstory:
Peyton lives alone with her mother, with not much money in their wallets. When Peyton was 12, her father left them in response to the constant fighting between him and her mother. Ever since then, Peyton’s mom had resulted to alcoholism and drug addiction. Her excuse is that it’s a way to save money, but Peyton had to grow up fast to realize that this was often making things worse. As Peyton started to enter her teen years, her mother started blame her for all their problems and would verbally/physically abuse her. One night it got so bad, that Peyton got a permanent scar on her forehead. Ever since then, Peyton gave herself every opportunity to stay far away from home as much as possible. She got multiple jobs, sustaining enough money to keep her in Maverick High, combined with all of the money her father had left her before leaving them. Even this private school filled with rich kids was better than home.
The school environment in itself has always been a distraction, in a sense. Peyton tends to keep herself busy with school work and grades, so she can be hyper focused on that instead. Which is why she’s possibly considered one of the more smarter kids at school. People usually see her as shy, as she never really talks to anyone but when people try to spark a conversation, she either just stares or walks away. The only person she can ever hang out with and talk to is her childhood friend Emery Attiyah. Everyone else is white noise, and not worth her time. Not that she really tries to get to know anyone. The drama club was an especially good excuse to avoid her horrible life. She was never really passionate about the arts, but she figured it would give her something else to keep her busy. She first entered in her freshman year, and since she’s currently in her senior year she’s been a member for four years now. Even though she’s easily recognizable, especially to the regulars, most people tend to not speak to her. Or maybe it’s that she tells them off if they attempt to speak to her. Peyton stopped noticing the difference after a while. In the club, her job is to work more behind the scenes. Whether it be to help set up props, costumes, hand out scripts, etc.
While not a social butterfly, Peyton did always find comfort in Veronica helping her out and encouraging her to smile more. The instructor was one of things that made Peyton happy to be there. But when the divorce happened, Peyton started to worry about Veronica’s more strict behavior. Deep down, a part of her fears that Veronica will become like her abusive mother..and that’s the last thing Peyton wants.
