I feel the cold again, I feel alone again

Sam has been to some wild parties that’s for sure, but for some reasons she never felt the after effects as harsh as this before. As she woke up her head immediately started to hurt like crazy.
She had nausea so bad, she thought she would pass out right there from the pain. She clenched her stomach and let out a painful moan. “Fuck..” was the only thing she could mutter before she threw up on the floor. The alcohol had worn off and all that’s left was emptiness. She remembered the emotions she felt when she was going around all alone helplessly in this horrifying place all alone. She didn’t remember how many times she woke up and found nobody. She only remembered falling to her knees and yelling as loud as she could with tears falling from her eyes. Why couldn’t she find anyone? Could this be a dream? It felt too real to be one. Then she found the bottle and... blackout. She didn’t exactly remember what happened, but she hoped her memories would come back later. After her eyes were able to adjust she saw.... no one. Alone again. No no no!! This can’t be happening. Why does she have to endure this nightmare all alone? She looked around helplessly, desperate to see a face, hear a voice. Someone she knew. But nothing. “Please” she begged quietly “I don’t want to be alone....”

It was not uncommon for Oliver to fall asleep at his desk. The man worked awfully hard very often and the prospect of grading papers until the early hours of the next day was not some foreign idea to him. Waking up on a damp, freezing floor however was something that alarmed him greatly.
Olly jolted awake, his neck immediately cramping as his whole body shuddered in nausea. He hadn’t been drunk the night previous, had he? It all felt like such a blur. Slowly the feeling returned to his body; his fingers tentatively brushing the floor in order to bring some realism to this strange nightmare. If it was a nightmare, his imagination was certainly tripping him out, because this could have been some fiendish horror movie and he could not have told the difference.
Thredson thought he held a feminine voice curse in the darkness, but his eardrums pulsed and the sound of his own heartbeat drowned out anything; even his ragged breathing. His fingers then balled into fists, before he forced himself up slightly.
Swaying, on his knees and ready to collapse again at any moment, he could make out barely a silhouetted form in the pungent black hole before him. He straightened his back to stand u and immediately slammed his desk on a hard object above him. The sound reverberated harshly through the implied silence.
“Ow,” Oliver cried, taking a moment as he laced his fingers into his thick black hair to let the pain fall from him. That had really hurt. Thirty seconds had passed, and reality suddenly began to dawn on him; an implied iciness that struck him to his very core. Something felt very wrong in this place. The object of which had met his head was a desk, so it was clear he was in a classroom. But yet it wasn’t his own. His fingers gripped the hard edge of the table and he pulled his torso up onto it, his breathing heavy from the hard task. His whole body felt solid, like lead; like a separate entity to himself.
It was then someone familiar called through the darkness.
“Please” a voice sobbed. Such a familiar voice but yet it took a moment to identify it. “I don’t want to be alone....”
So terrified, so broken. The poor woman. An overwhelming urge of paternal fear rushed over him before a gasp echoed through the room. Sam. It was Sam!
“Sam?” Oliver’s soft, soothing voice called through the perpetual pit of darkness. “Is that you?”

The woman heard a loud boom, which made her jump. It sounded like something slamming into something. “Ow” she heard a voice cry. Could it be? Was she not alone in this hellhole? Did the universe or any other higher power grant her wish? She heard a gasp. “Sam? Is that you?” her eyes widened. Her heart started racing a hundred miles. She looked at the direction where the voice was coming from. It wasn’t a dream. He really was there. Standing behind his desk.
“Oliver?” she cried, but this time her voice was filled with happiness. Not alone, not anymore. If she would’ve had to be alone again she might’ve gone crazy. She stood up, a little unsteady, and started moving towards him. She was so desperate for human contact, missed her friend so much. She wanted to cry, hug him, kiss him... In that moment of pure happiness and relief, something she thought she might not feel again for a long time. She decided to go with the latter.
As their lips locked, the raven-haired’s heart fluttered. Sam wrapped her arms around Oliver. She loved this feeling more than anything. It was addicting. She craved more, she needed more, she didn’t want to stop, more, more, more... but eventually.. she had to breathe. She pulled away her head and looked her friend in the eye. It was from his expression she finally snapped back to the horrible reality they were in, and she realized what she had done. She let go of him instantly. And stared at him with eyes wide-open.
All Sam felt was..confusion. What had just happened? Why-why would she do this? Was it just because of the moment of relief she felt that her closest friend was alright, and here with her that she got too carried away...or was it something deeper than that? No, she shook the thought away from herself. No, him and Oliver were good friends, she tried to get him laid so many times and the poor guy was so naive he didn’t understand what she was trying to do. She always loved that about him, that cluelessness. It was cute.. but no. No there was nothing there. It was just the passion of the moment.. not to mention Sam had Stefan.. or whatever that was between them. Sam always thought of it as friend with benefits, but right now, she wasn’t really sure of anything. Could-could this be the reason she disliked that Hamilton girl so much? Maybe she wasn’t trying to protect Oliver, maybe she was... jealous. The thought terrified her. Did she really not know herself well enough to realize that she liked her goofy coworker?
After a few moments of silence, the long raven-haired cleared her throat. “I- I’m really glad you’re alright” she gave him a friendly smile. She really hoped things wouldn’t be awkward between them. She wouldn’t want to ruin their friendship.

“Oliver?” His name jumped at him through the darkness, the utterly distinguishable tones of his friend, no longer fearful but with genuine hope in her voice. A smile lit up his momentarily pained expression, the whiteness of his teeth glimmering through the gloom. As his gentle doe-like eyes adjusted to the dusk, he noted the shape of Sam stumbling at him as if she were desperate to reach him…
… and suddenly their lips locked together. A sudden terror ripped through him; this couldn’t possibly be his friend. She had never… she had never… His bright blue eyes snapped open as she wrapped her arms around him. Her touch, her smell; it all overwhelmed him immediately. Perhaps he was hallucinating; a result of the knock to his head. A minor concussion. Feeling like she could possibly topple over, Oliver gripped on to her hips to steady her. Perhaps it was the influx of emotions; the fear coming out of her. Seeing him must have triggered a response… a… a… Oliver tried to think logically, yet the words were scrambled in his brain, as they had never been before. He was a magician with the way of words, and yet all his brain could conjure was static.
Perhaps it was his own situation; he couldn’t quite grasp why; and yet he didn’t tug away from her. He didn’t cringe or shy away like a wounded animal, or even shout as many would. He simply held her there, allowing her to ease into the kiss, allowing her to grasp on to his tall body. He didn’t want to hurt her; he could never hurt her.
It was as though she had escaped a dream. Her eyes pinned open as she pulled back, the horror in her eyes as prevalent as his own shock. His lip quivered as he searched for something to break the tension between them. He gave her a small, shy smile; his cheeks flushed bright pink from the sudden experience. And yet his heart thundered tremendously; the silence broken by his own body. He could only pray her hearing wasn’t in tune and she could hear the blood pumping in his ears.
The only immediate emotion he could feel was confusion. As well as the shock; his mind could not quite grasp why she’d done it. Oliver always assumed Sam and Stefan were more serious than they had made out; perhaps that was incorrect. Subconsciously, Oliver, ran his fingers over his knuckles; rubbing his hands together out of nerves. He had torn his blue gaze away from Sam’s, the shyness truly setting in on him.
“I- I’m really glad you’re alright,” she said, and smiled as though what had happened was merely a thing forgotten. His cheeks burned a brighter colour as he met her eyes once more; a childlike confusion flickering over his brow. He seemed strained; the conflict of actions told from within his eyes. After a second of consideration, he gave another shy smile, an acceptance, a small forgiveness.
“I’m… I’m glad you’re alright too… I think. Are… Are you okay?” Oliver paused, his lips puckered slightly, trying to act like a regular human again. His jet-black hair, which had been pulled over his eyes from Sam’s efforts, was pushed out of his face in a single sweep. He looked as lost as ever.
“That was…” He burned scarlet, his eyelashes flickering from his sudden nerves. “You’ve never done that before,” he said, referencing to the kiss.

Sam was horrible at confrontation. In most situations she cracked a joke or acted like nothing happened. Just like now. She stood steadier, though her mind still raced. She looked at Oliver. His cheeks were bright, his expression confused. He was tense. The woman didn’t look away. She studied his face. Anxiously wondering what might be going through his head. Has she really fucked everything up? Would that seemingly harmless kiss haunt her for the rest of her life? Then she remembered… he didn’t pull away. Did he just go along with it, or was it something else?
Finally, the man smiled. “I’m… I’m glad you’re alright too… I think. Are… Are you okay?” the raven-haired wasn’t sure how to answer. She spent an unknown amount of time all alone in a disturbing version of their school, then she got drunk, threw up and almost lost her mind till he showed up. Definitely not alright. “Yes, I’m alright.” lying it is then. The other continued. Oh, god were they really gonna talk about it? Can’t they just move on? Can't they just forget about it? But in this situation, it was unavoidable. “You’ve never done that before,” her cheeks were red now too. She pursed her lips. “ I shouldn’t have..” Sam answered looking down at the floor with regret. “I’m sorry.. I was just… happy to see you. That’s all.” she tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. “Anyway, do you have any idea what happened?” changing the subject was for the best. This way, neither of them would get hurt.

The woman seemed to study him in a certain curiosity; a mixture of conflict and strain in her eyes. The tension between them was thick – like molasses – and the pair couldn’t quite wade through it. A million thoughts flooded through her mind it seemed and similarly for Oliver, however a cascading rush of fear overwhelmed him. A crass selfishness for their friendship. Perhaps acting like it never happened would be a good way forward, however how could he ever forget that? How could he ever not consider why she did it?
His mouth thinned out momentarily as he pondered on his own sanity; their own impending doom. It all had to be some for of trick; surely? Oliver ran a hand through his hair, feeling for any blood or bump which might be the origin of any hallucinations. Though as expected he couldn’t feel anything particularly gruesome.
It wasn’t a dream.
“Yes, I’m alright,” his friend replied, though the conviction seemed to lack slightly. Oliver’s eyes fluttered in confusion, though when he realised the heat was meeting her cheeks also, he averted his gaze once again. Oh god, it was so awkward. He just wanted to shake off the feeling; but the thundering of his heart could not withdraw, and his nerves were once again the reason for his dismay.
Sam pursed her lips, before replying to his last statement;
“I shouldn’t have… I’m sorry.. I was just… happy to see you. That’s all.” Oliver smiled sadly at her last statement. Encouraging, friendly, as he usually was. He knew then that he was being silly. This was Sam. She was scared; terrified even. The familiar place they both knew had never seemed to foreign. Oliver’s reservations quickly relented, and he absorbed his friend into a tight hug. A wordless statement; I will always be there for you.
“Anyway, do you have any idea what happened?”
He waited a moment before pulling back. In truth, he had no idea. That was the problem. Why was it all so confusing? He tightened his large bear hug for a moment in reassurance before drawing back. “Honestly,” he started. “I have no idea. And… and that’s terrifying. I’m just glad I’m not the only one here. I’d have thought I was going mad otherwise…”
His mouth twitched, a wince of reproach to his last statement. He then sighed, knotting his fingers together at his stomach. “Shall we have a look around?”

At her apology, her friend smiled. For a moment it felt like everything was back to normal. Then something Sam absolutely didn’t expect, was getting pulled into a big hug. At first she hesitated her eyes wide, then after a little while, she eased into the embrace and wrapped her arms around her co-worker. “Heh, apology accepted then?” she chuckled, a huge weight lifted from her shoulders. Their friendship was stronger than to be destroyed by a stupid kiss. She shouldn’t have doubted that. At her second question, he pulled her closer, before letting go.
As the woman expected Oliver didn’t know any more than she did. They were both dropped into this shitty situation with no idea why or how. “I’m just glad I’m not the only one here. I’d have thought I was going mad otherwise…” The woman’s eyes started tearing up again, but she tried to laugh it off. “Yeah.. I know all about that.” she answered, a bit of sadness in her voice. Thinking back to all the times she was alone. She could feel the loneliness creeping back in, but she tried not worrying about it. It wasn't the time.
“Shall we have look around?” “One step ahead of ya!” the woman replied as she was already looking under the chairs, searching for anything useful.

Dice result: 1D10 => 8 Success; you found an item!
Lucky Sam seemed really excited about the scavenger hunt and Lady Luck was in her favor today. Under one of the chairs, she saw how a pair of big covered in blood scissors materialized out of thin air. Sam could have SWORN that those scissors were NOT there a second ago!.. Or maybe it's just her head? She could be indeed SOO-O drunk and hungry she can nor think nor see properly.
Item: scissors ("-1 health" for anybody who is hit by it and "-1 sanity" for everybody who attacks another character with it)
